You may remember Alec and his wife Rachel; both were on staff at the Blue Hen’s for Christ ministry only a few years ago. They have now planted a ministry in New Jersey and are serving the community there. This newsletter includes a message from them: sharing the work God is doing through their ministry and calling on this prayer team for support!
God of Hope Mission is a faith family that longs to see broken communities in the northeast like Millville, New Jersey transformed by the love of Jesus Christ. We facilitate such change by building relationships, sharing Christ, and empowering people to reach their God given potential.
This past few weeks, our team has been praying over a piece of land that has been gifted to our community partner Alar Corwin for the purpose of feeding the needy. This piece of land is where we will be working with her to show the community how to grow their own food.
As many of you know this will be aimed at building the community and sharing the Gospel. The city of Millville has been gracious enough to install water, and soon they will provide the materials to install an irrigation system, raised beds, and the proper protection from vandalism. The community garden will be located in the middle of the inner city and will serve as a distribution point for produce donated by local farmers to put a further dent into food insecurity.
We are praying that God will work through all of this as we intentionally build relationships focused on sharing our faith. These people need a Savior as well as food. May God draw souls to His heart.
This Past Tuesday one of our team members - Carl, Paul, and I (Alec) were studying the Bible with two local men named Ray and Jerry. Both of them have done business with Carl in the past and have developed a relationship with him over the years. In the context of this friendship, Carl asked them if they wanted to read the Bible together, and that led to reading the word. On Tuesday we asked them what made them interested in learning the Bible, and Jerry said that he wanted to "get right" with God before he dies. The man has had two open heart surgeries and is not doing well. Ray on the other hand has dealt with guilt for a long time. I asked them if they would like to know how they could be set free from their guilt and know if they were going to spend eternity with Jesus, which led to a conversation about salvation. They gave their lives to the Lord and were Baptized today. They are the first fruits of our ministry here. There will be many more coming to Jesus. Thank you to those who give. This happens through your contributions and prayer!
Sincerely,
The God of Hope Mission Family
