Students Return and Conference Recap

Sep 08, 2023

Hello Prayer partners! Casey here with update on our ministry!

Students returned to the University of Delaware in the last week of August, and we had our Welcome Waffle night on the 29th.  We were blessed to give out over a hundred waffles and interact with returning students and the arriving class of 2027!  We took students to Lums Pond in Bear, DE for paddle boating over Labor day weekend, and our first Tuesday dinner and Bible study was the 5th!  Our Reflect Missions staff will continue to disciple students in one-on-one Bible studies, and our apprentice Lauran will be leading a small discussion group this semester!

We are looking forward to the challenges and blessings God has for us with this new semester and more young people who need Jesus!

Stepping back about a month…

Every summer, the Campus for Christ Conference calls and I answer.  This year we met at Lipscomb University in Nashville.  I had the honor of speaking the first night from our theme passage of Colossians 4:2-6 about our need for devotion in prayer.  It was a blessing to hear fellow campus ministers and mentors say my message was vulnerable, practical and inspiring. I really liked that my current apprentice Lauran called my message "kindly stinging."  I may have to use that for a book title some day…  In the talk, I went through my prayer life over the years and showed how I had grown and changed.  I talked a lot about the need for roots because prayer is the roots of our spiritual tree.  You don't usually see them, but they are critical to our spiritual lives.

One night of the conference, I was able to gather with all my former and current apprentices who were present!

Dalton is at East Carolina.

Lauran is my current apprentice.

Claire is at Arizona State

Conner is still preparing to launch into missions after completing his undergrad.

Micah is at Auburn.

My first apprentice, Lendy is now in Baltimore preparing to teach US History! Tracey got a picture of my first and last apprentice (so far!).  It is great to be making disciples and God is using them on campus and in other parts of his kingdom to His glory!

Thank you for the investment in me and BHC as we train these kingdom campus leaders!  Pray we find a new male apprentice soon to join our missions team in Delaware!

For the kingdom and the campus,

Casey
