Greetings and God bless you.
As Allie and I settle into our routines for the semester and look back over March, we see many ways God has worked through us. First, we had the opportunity to travel to Newark, Delaware over Harding's spring break with two students interested in disciple-making. This was an eye-opening trip for us, as we were exposed to what a mature and fruitful campus ministry looks like and are excited to incorporate what we have learned. This was also an invaluable opportunity for the students above, Alec and Noah, to not only serve students alongside Blue Hens for Christ, but also catch on to the vision of discipleship as a lifestyle and as a daily call to action.
We continue to cover the campus in prayer every other week through bi-weekly prayer walks. As we make this a consistent part of our schedule, more and more students continue to join us. We know how powerful it would be for the students at Harding to adopt a culture of powerful prayer and we have seen how even those students who aren't free for our prayer walk have been inspired to go on their own. On our last prayer walk, one of the groups of students we approached to pray for shared how our prayers were somehow exactly what they needed to hear in ways we could not have known. It was a great reminder that the spirit was walking alongside us.
Allie and I have established relationships with several students that we meet with regularly. As the semester speeds up and finals approach, it has become easy for us to become discouraged as the demands on their time become more urgent. Our time with God has reassured us that if all we accomplish this semester is that these students would feel heard and listened to, that they would know there is someone checking up on them and cheering them on, then we have done kingdom work.
Some ways you can be praying for us are prayers for encouragement (as the semester slows down and students mentally "check out" for the summer) to continue doing what we're doing and not become discouraged by the lack of connection these past few weeks have brought; pray for Alec and Noah as they're both graduating and looking now into what their lives will hold in ministry; pray for the students as they go
out this summer.
We're so glad to be a part of Reflect and the ministry that God has called us to here on Harding's campus, and we look forward to continuing to see what His great plan holds for the future.
In Him,
James and Allie Goodpasture
